Mobile Computing

A retrospective look at mobile access to digital information, 1970-present

What do you have in your pocket? Even if you’re not a techie, it’s likely you have more computing horsepower than a 1996 desktop computer combined with high-speed Internet connectivity plus a cell phone that works in most countries around the world, a stereo system to rival the best of the 1980's, and a digital camera . . . in other words, a modern handheld computer.

The library is offering an exhibit on the evolution of the handheld, from its origins in science fiction to its first appearance with a whopping 28k to the sophisticated devices of today and beyond. Come take a look at the way mobile computing has become ubiquitous in just few decades transforming our lives. The exhibit will be in the Arizona Health Sciences Library during April!
