When you search databases such as PubMed or PsycINFO, the list of articles will have embedded links to the full-text of the articles.
Try right-clicking on the embedded links to the articles you want to read - open them in a new Tab.
Unfortunately, you may not find embedded links for every article from the search. To find those articles, you will have to hunt for them on the Internet.
Beginning the hunt for articles
Paste the title of the article, "inside quote marks" into Google Scholar.
Click on the title of the article.
If clicking on the title didn't work, then look for a link "Full-Text @ UofA Library." About half the time, this takes you to the article.
... However, sometimes "Full-Text @ UofA Library" takes you to the UA journal page. Look for a link to the journal that the article is in. Open the journal. Look for the right issue. Scan down for the article.
Some Google Scholar links are to services that charge lots of money to fetch the article. Ignore those links - UA affiliates get DocOrder, a free document delivery service.
That didn't work....
Continue your hunt at the list of UA electronic journals. Instead of looking for the title of the article, this time search for the title of the journal.
If you find a match for the journal, then check for a publisher that has the year of the article. Some publishers go back further in time, and some don't have current issues. Check the list under the journal name for the years covered by each publisher.
Click on the best match. Hunt for the right issue. Find your article. Read.
I still can't find my article!
The next level is DocOrder, a free library service that finds and delivers articles to your email. (It also delivers books, chapters, and other publications.)
The first time, you have to register. After that, just login.
Click on the button [Request an Article Copy]. Fill in the form. You can cut and paste from your search. Generally, three authors are sufficient - you don't have to list them all.
Submit your request. Wait patiently for five business days. (85% are filled within three business days.) If you are still waiting, then click on [View/Modify Outstanding Requests] to check the status of your request.
After a week, don't freak! Call us in Tucson at (520) 626-6125 or in Phoenix at (602) 827-2031.
